we've put it there
for you to sit
i've kept it there
for you to sit

and now there's only one kitchen chair in the kitchen
and now there's a lonely chair somewhere in the house
in the lonely kitchen, with a towel left on it
a yellow towel, an overused one
and maybe i should move that chair too
and leave no chairs in the kitchen
and bring the table
and the spoons
and the two forks that i have left
that i'll be left with

or leave everything just the way it is
or turn it back the way it was
or leave this house and run away
or take it with me
or burn it down
or use the forks to shut my eyes
and then burn down
